“IBM Corp. is planning to offer the channel and customers
packaged deals of enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions on
different servers within 60 days.”

“Despite declining growth in the ERP segment over the past year,
IBM is banking on better numbers in the areas of supply chain and
customer relations management (CRM) solutions to propel growth in
its server space, company executives said.”

“All current IBM server platforms carry ERP solutions from SAP
AG, The Baan Co. and PeopleSoft Inc., and the Netfinity group is
set to roll out new solutions this week with QAD Inc…”

“In the meantime, IBM is wasting little time kicking its
Linux-based offerings into gear. Last week, the company unveiled
increased support for Linux in the enterprise. …will roll out
support services for Linux users through its IBM Global Services
division, and Linux consultants will be available to help customers
install the operating system, as well as provide planning and
applications and database services… ‘The key point is that
services and support will be there in the critical start-up mode
for users,’ said Michael Reigel, global executive for Linux and
E-business solutions at IBM’s Netfinity division.

IBM also will work with Walldorf,
Germany-based SAP to create a Linux version of SAP’s R/3 ERP
platform for Netfinity.”
