“The SAP Venture Fund, which is an organization within Walldorf,
Germany-based SAP, will handle the Red Hat transaction. No dollar
amount was attached to the size of the investment, though Red Hat
officials called it sizable. ‘As far as we’re concerned, it’s a
significant investment,’ said Bob Young, chief executive of Red
Hat, Research Triangle Park, N.C.”

“Red Hat said it was amazed how quickly SAP embraced Linux. At
the recent CeBit show in Hamburg, Germany, SAP demonstrated its ERP
suite on Linux. ‘Just six months ago, all of us in the community
thought that SAP would not be involved,’ said Young.”
