“Novell Inc. focused on messaging with the launch of its Liberty
messaging server…”

“Code-named Liberty, Novell officially dubbed the product Novell

“The first version of NIMS will run on NetWare, but subsequent
versions also will run on Solaris and Windows NT, said Tom Rhoton,
director of product marketing for GroupWise. In addition, the
product will support POP3 and IMAP4 standards.”

“Novell will explore porting NIMS to Linux, Rhoton added.
Earlier this month, Novell, along with IBM Corp. and Oracle Corp.,
made a minority investment in Red Hat Software Inc., which develops
