“Oracle Corp. Vice President of Marketing Mark Jarvis told Linux
devotees here that they would help overthrow the tyranny of
Microsoft Corp.’s Windows operating system.”

“”We are now going through a revolution and that revolution is
the Internet, and Microsoft has completely missed it,” said Jarvis,
speaking at Linux World Expo. “WWW now stands for ‘windows won’t
win,’ ” he jibed.”

“Unlike initial database version from some vendors, Oracle will
charge for its Linux database for runtime licenses. Developers’
versions will be free.”

“Jon “Mad Dog” Hall, the executive director of Linux
International, said he does not mind that vendors are charging full
price for their Linux applications. “What we don’t want is vendors
to charge more for Linux than NT applications like they did in the
Unix market.””
