CRN: Red Hat touts ease of use, StarOffice in Linux upgrade

“As the Linux operating system market becomes more crowded,
vendor Red Hat Inc. is trying to stay ahead of the game.”

“To do so, the Durham-based software company this month released
Red Hat Linux 6.1. The upgrade, which incorporates the Linux
22.12 [sic] kernel, features an easier installation, a choice of
two GUIs, online updates, an update agent, and failover and
load-balancing services for servers
, according to Red Hat
executives.”

“The upgrade also will include Sun Microsystems Inc.’s recently
acquired office suite, StarOffice 5.1, which includes word
processing, spreadsheet, E-mail, database and Web publishing
applications.”
