“Silicon Graphics Chairman and Chief Executive Rick Belluzzo
said in addition to selling Linux servers, the company plans to
contribute components of its technology to the open-source-code
model, including OpenGL, the company’s graphics library
technology.”
“The company already is talking with companies in the Linux
vendor community, including Red Hat Software Inc., Durham, N.C.,
said Red Hat Chief Executive Robert Young. However, the two
companies have not signed a formal agreement yet.”
“Silicon Graphics is interested in the open-source model for
three basic reasons, Belluzzo said.”
