“The IBM Integration plug-in for Derby allows for simplified
database application development by combining the ease of use of
Eclipse and Derby into one environment. After installing the tool
the Derby database and DB2, JDBC JAR files can be added to any
Eclipse Java project. The plug-in also provides access to the IBM
Cloudscape ij SQL scripting tool from within Eclipse. SQL commands
can be executed or whole SQL scripts can be run from ij using the
Eclipse console. The Apache Derby Network Server can be configured
to listen on different ports of the localhost using the Eclipse
project properties and started from a menu item in Eclipse. This
enables both clients from within the Eclipse environment and
standalone client applications to connect to the Derby network
