Donations to FSF – A Challenge to Other LUG’s

To show our appreciation to the Free Software Foundation for
their efforts in coordinating the development of free software, the
Vancouver GNU/Linux Users Group (http://www.linux.bc.ca/ ) recently
made a donation of US$650. (~CDN$960.)

Local companies (Coalescent Technologies and Faximum Software)
also joined in with contributions of their own, raising the
combined total to US$1350. (~CDN$2000.)

A search through the ThankGNUS page

http://www.gnu.org/thankgnus/thankgnus.html

doesn’t show many other LUG’s.

Since the FSF has played a pivotal role in the evolution of
Linux, we encourage other LUG’s to follow through with donations of
their own. Of course, donations to other groups which develop free
software (e.g., The XFree86 Project http://www.xfree86.org/donations.html
) are just as acceptable.
