Patrick Mullen
sent in this excerpt from the DukeOfURL’s review of Mandrake
8.0:

“MandrakeSoft has, in the short period of its
existence, gained a reputation for producing one of the easiest to
use Linux distributions available. Version 8.0 is no exception,
bringing with it the latest Linux technologies such as kernel
2.4.3, XFree86 4.0.3, KDE 2.1.1 and GNOME 1.4. There is little
doubt that MandrakeSoft is aiming for a desktop near you.

Originally based on the Red Hat Distribution, Mandrake has grown
in to its own. They put a lot of support into the Free Software and
Open Source initiatives, even releasing their code under the GPL
(General Public License). MandrakeSoft has, in a very short period
of time, become a major player. One that is greatly respected for
their innovation and thoughtfulness toward the user.

Mandrake is a winner here and bumps SuSE from the number one
position. Mandrake 8.0 provides a high value return on any money
spent purchasing their distribution. If you are looking for a
distribution that can support new users and veterans alike, this is
it.”
