According to Tony Stanco, Founding Director of the The Center of
Open Source & Government, the US Department of Defense has made
its first official statement about Open Source, essentially placing
it on a level playing field with proprietary software.
There was some concern that the DoD would ban the GPL from use
within that organization, “so this is a very big win,” Stanco
emphasized in a letter to Linux Today this morning.
