From mail@linuxtoday.com Mon Apr 30 22:19:32 2001 Date: Mon, 30 Apr 2001 23:20:53 -0400 From: "Eric S. Raymond" <esr@thyrsus.com> Subject: The Jargon File 4.3.0 is available. I have released a new Web version of the Jargon File, available at <http://www.tuxedo.org/jargon/> This version 4.3.0 is intended specifically to recognize and honor the wonderfully insane hackers of the Bergen Linux User's Group in Bergen, Norway. In perpetrating the world's first implementation of RFC1149 ("A Standard for the Transmission of IP Datagrams on Avian Carriers") they have pulled off what may just be the funniest, cleverest hack of the last fifteen years. Gentlemen, I salute you. You have been added to Appendix A as the latest in a string of classic examples of the hack as art form. -- Eric S. Raymond Freedom, morality, and the human dignity of the individual consists precisely in this; that he does good not because he is forced to do so, but because he freely conceives it, wants it, and loves it. -- Mikhail Bakunin
