“X is one of the toughest things to setup on a laptop if your
hardware or laptop is an unknown. Sometimes you luck out, and get
it running perfectly, but other times you’re stuck with a white
blank screen that XFree86 accepts, or have to run in 8 colors and
accept a 640×480 screen. This document reviews the places you can
check, and some alternatives to regular XFree86 when you don’t
really know much about how to ‘tweak’ it to run on your
hardware.”
