ExTiX 17.2 is based on the Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak), Debian GNU/Linux 8.7 “Jessie,” and Debian GNU/Linux 9 “Stretch” operating systems. It is powered by a kernel from the Linux 4.10 series, namely Linux kernel 4.10.3, and it’s built around the lightweight LXQt 0.10.0 desktop environment. ExTiX 17.2 is dubbed by the developer as “The Ultimate Linux System,” because it includes many of the latest GNU/Linux technologies and open-source applications, but also because it borrows so much from some of the best and most popular Linux-based operating systems, Debian and Ubuntu.
