“Recently I’ve been reading a lot about how well Ubuntu works on
laptops, particularly when it comes to handling wireless
connections–something that is generally a problem under Linux due
to a number of factors, the primary one being the paucity of
drivers for most cards.

“I’ve never been able to test this out, primarily because my
laptop, a P3-600, has no working CD drive; the one that came with
the machine in 2001 has become rather temperamental and reads
something like one CD out of 100…!”
