“When Rasterman (Carsten Haitzler) and Mandrake (Geoff Harrison)
started the Enlightenment project almost 10 years ago, the eye
candy intensive desktop manager was barely able to run by the
hardware standards of that time. KDE and Gnome were in their
infancy, and FVWM was the window manager of choice for a big
percentage of Linux users.“Many things have changed. Hardware is now much faster. While
FVWM and its derviatives are still used by many people, KDE and
Gnome are mature products that the majority of users select for
their desktops…”
