Freedom’s Heartland: WRI Reponds Regarding the Digital Dividends conference

[ Thanks to Josh

As many Linux Today readers are aware, the World Resources
Institute is hosting the Digital Dividends conference in Seattle,
Washington. As some news agencies reported , the WRI allegedly did
not ask any Linux companies to join; instead, the group included
such giants as Microsoft, Sun, HP, and Cisco. However, when
Freedom’s Heartland sent an e-mail to several key personnel at WRI,
they sent a response that says otherwise.

“Like many Linux users, I was confused. After all, this is a
conference about trying to close the “Digital Divide” in
less-advantaged countries in the third world. Linux is a very ideal
solution to this situation, so why isn’t there any Linux at the
Digital Dividends conference? I e-mailed several key personnel at
WRI. All but two of the addresses bounced; the two people who did
get my message, Adlai Amor and Al Hammond, replied to my
e-mail.”
