German lottery runs Linux and Oracle

Oracle’s Application server and Linux form the basis of the new
Web operational readiness level of the “Nordwestdeutschen Klassenlotterie.”.
Rising numbers of visitors with more than two million accesses per
month had made a revision necessary.

On the hardware page is listed a Pentium II UW SCSI computer
with 350 Mhz and 512 MB RAM.

The server runs Red Hat Linux 5,2 with kernel 2,0,36, Oracle
Application server 3.0.2, database 8.0.4.

According to a statement that TAS GmbH (of Hamburg), which
implemented the project, the NKL is the first Web system which is
based on Linux with the Oracle Application server in Germany.
