GUILinux: Downloader for X

“This article marks the beginning of a new GUILinux software
series: GUI apps you just can’t (or shouldn’t) live without. The
series isn’t intended to be the ‘be all and end all’ of software
reviews, it’s intended to inform the Linux Desktop user of some of
the great GUI applications that are available.

“I thought long and hard about which GUI based Linux application
should be the first in the series, there are so many to choose
from. After running through the list of window managers, Internet
browsers, file managers, audio, video, chat, office, and on and on,
I kept coming back to this… download managers.

“Yep, that’s right download managers. Think about it, so much of
what we do on our Linux Machines depends on software and
applications that we must download from the Internet. Oh sure, you
can get plenty of applications off of your CD that you installed
your favorite distribution with, but often those CDs came from the
Internet in the form of an .ISO file…”
