“As an intermediate Linux user and experienced web developer, I
find that my needs in an operating system are; a straight forward X
environment and a generous helping of design and development
applications. Libranet, you are my diamond in the rough.

“A few years back I was approached by a very Linux savvy C
developer about using Linux to develop under. I was very hesitant
to make the move from my safe and extremely easy to use Windows
environment. Of course at the time I was frustrated with Windows
infamous ‘Blue Screen of Death,’ and various GUI issues from the
annoying Active Desktop to the repetitive Windows Classic theme. I
wanted a change, as scary as it was at the time.

“I was first introduced to RedHat Linux, probably 4 years ago.
It was easy to install, and the interface was straight forward
enough, but It still wasn’t what I was looking for, it wasn’t THE
solution for me. In some ways it did too much for me, and in others
not enough. I’ve also never really cared for the way that RedHat
handles package management. On the plus side, RPM’s always seemed a
plenty. On the downside, I found myself riding a ‘dependency roller
coaster’ more and more often. I needed something different…”
