Has Windows 10 Killed Linux On The Desktop?

With the release of Windows 10 there have been a number of articles and podcasts discussing the issue as to what effect this will have on Linux. My view is that the desktop itself is dying with most average desktop tasks such as email, chat, social media, listening to music and watching video now performed primarily on tablets, phones, Chromebooks and MacBooks. Linux is as well positioned as it has ever been because it has always been about more than basic desktop usage.
