IndyBox Systems slashes prices

Today, IndyBox Systems
(based in Indianapolis, Indiana) announced they would be lowering
the price of their AMD based XA Series to
$400
, with one of the many Linux distributions pre-installed
and optimized with the latest stable kernel and X server. Their 4U
rack mountable XA version start from $625, with a wide array of
hardware options all optimized for Linux.

IndyBox Systems Chief Executive Charles Martin said “we are
responding to market forces with our recent drop in pricing. There
is a clear gap in the sub-$600 and sub-$1000 system markets.
However, with several of the processor manufacturers falling
further and further behind AMD and Intel, AMD has a real
opportunity to step up and fill the void, with Linux as the driving
mechanism.”

Martin added, “we are staying focused on providing the lowest
cost of ownership, while being able to meet the demand for support
and service, albeit while operating at production capacity. We have
expanded our offices six times in the last 9 weeks, with an average
of 630% growth each week. We have had top quality employees
provided to us by People Unlimited of Indiana without having to
sacrifice productivity or experience higher production costs, due
to the normal HR crunch associated with massive growth, which
allows us to concentrate our efforts on R&D.”
