Alan Day writes:

Recently, IndyBox Systems
(based in Indianapolis, Indiana) announced they would be offering
AMD K6-2 350MHz based Linux
workstations from $425.00
with one of the many
Linux distributions pre-installed
, including Debian, Red Hat,
SuSE, Caldera, Mandrake and Slackware. They also announced that
they are introducing a complete line of rack mountable
Linux systems
which are AMD
and Intel based from $625.00.
They are offering configurable
machines
, with a wide array of hardware options too.

IndyBox Systems Chief
Executive Charles Martin said “his company is solidly committed to
providing the most affordable and highest performing Linux systems
possible. We are a very customer oriented company, that listens
carefully to what our customers are telling us and wanting.”

“IndyBox Systems does not
delve into rumors. We have no comment to the possibility that we
have been collaborating with Acer
and AMD.” However, Martin offered
that “as with the release of the Intel P III processor, we were
ready and able to offer fully configured machines with optimization
for that processor from day one, as is the case with IndyBox
Systems being able to release a K7 solution the day it hits the
market.”
