“Linux, the freeware operating system, will become a more viable
option for enterprise deployment this year. Linux distributor Red
Hat Systems Inc. plans to offer round-the-clock support for
businesses in the first quarter. Also in this quarter, Informix and
Oracle will deliver versions of their enterprise databases for
Linux. “We’ll see the jump of Linux in the enterprise space
throughout 1999,” claims Robert Young, president of Red Hat.”
