InfoWorld: SuSE, others set to release updated Linux versions

“Three of the major Linux suppliers are set to deliver this
month their latest versions of the increasingly popular open-source
operating system.”

“German vendor SuSE next week will release SuSE Linux 6.1, based
on the updated Linux kernel approved by the operating system’s
creator, Linus Torvalds, back in January. Meanwhile, Caldera is
expected to show off OpenLinux 2.2 at the Linux Global Summit that
is part of spring Comdex in Chicago next week. By month’s end, Red
Hat will formally debut its Version 6.0 of Linux.”

“Caldera’s Linux update will contain Version 2.2.5 of the Linux
multiprocessing kernel and will sport a spiffier Windows-style
graphical interface with an improved, point-and click installation
process that takes less than 15 minutes to complete. OpenLinux 2.2
will also be bundled with the StarOffice suite of applications and
Word Perfect A.”
