“There are almost as many Extensible Mark-up Language (XML) uses
as there are XML users. Linux users are lucky and have a wealth of
choices and options in being able to prepare and managing XML data
through availability of tools. With an ever-increasing demand for
standardisation and data exchange and with a need for seamless
integration with disparate database structures, can Linux
capitalise on the growing corporate marketplace, or is it too
late?”

“Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) has been in existence for
many years and there is an industry that already exists utilising
EDI conversions, exchanges and transmissions, curiously a world
where Linux has very little presence, if at all, but would be
ideally suited as a cheap server based solution with a wealth of
XML tools.”

“Many vendors are now exploring XML as a standardised and
flexible data management tool. This has created a flurry of XML
based standards in almost every industry. As long as more Linux
tools and application become available to support these vendor and
user developments, then there are more chances for Linux to
penetrating the global corporate enterprise.”
