“…If anyone dared to look at all the Linux sites around the
globe, then they will really see how diverse it can be. The news
stories are always pretty consistent and written similar to any
other product news piece. So the journalists are reporting as
always of hope, glory and demise. Interestingly though, most of the
sites do have community talkbacks and this is where the fun
begins.”

“A comment, suggestion or reaction to a story may be a valid
one; unfortunately the abuse that follows is incredibly
unwarranted. Web sites such as Slashdot, and Linuxtoday seem to
provoke the best reactions, given a wide range of topical Linux
stories.”

“Why do the talkback postings consist of so much abuse,
fiery reaction, and defensiveness. Is it drugs and drink that
triggers the clan into rage? Or is it pure passion for what they
believe in to be good and right, free OpenSource software? Are they
technically competent, or does this expertise rest in the laps of
the quiet few. If a product was so good, why is energy wasted in
foul language?
