LINUX CONFERENCE DAY; Linux and Open Source, A Low Cost and
Reliable Solution

The conference was held on Thursday, April 22, 1999 at Aula
Pangeran Kuningan, Grha Citra Caraka, Gedung Telkom, Jl. Gatot
Subroto. It was a successful conference. With more than 450 people
attending, this conference shows that Linux is a very interesting
issue in Indonesia, especially in the information technology
world.

Compaq, SuSE, Oracle, Telkom, and Indosat supported this event
as sponsors. Not just that, Redhat, Komputek, and Linux Singapore
Portal helped make this event successful.

The committee, with regret, had to refuse more than 150 people
that would like to register for the conference after the
registration deadline. This is because the conference room will not
be able to handle more than 500 people and also because the
committee will not be able to handle that many people. On the other
hand, this shows that similar events needed to be continuously
prepare in order to introduce Linux and Open Source to Indonesian
community.
