“The project is QtMozilla, formerly known as QtScape. Initially
done as an exercise in porting, it later provided a QT/KDE front
end to Mozilla. But it has gone unmaintained for some time and
absent sustained interest is in danger of being dropped from the
Mozilla CVS tree.“QtScape, as it was then called, was the result of an audacious
effort by programmers at Trolltech and a couple of volunteers,
including Matthias Kalle Dalheimer, to prove that Netscape
Navigator 5.0 could be ported to the Qt toolkit in one man month.
The project succeeded, resulting in a working browser that actually
worked well, though many of the niceties of the Netscape
version–bookmark editing, for instance–were absent. It was seen
as a landmark in proving the worth of the Qt toolkit, which was the
purpose of the exercise, and there were users who favored it as a
