“For my first attempt at installing 6.1 I used a custom
installation, and selected both gnome and KDE. On rebooting I was
presented with a rather drab graphical login presented by the gnome
display manager gdm. I logged in selecting KDE. What I was
presented with was a functional and complete KDE desktop. This was
stable and once configured to my personal tastes, almost as homely
as my Caldera system or a FreeBSD system…”
