SMB, or server message block, is the file sharing protocol
developed by Microsoft. Samba is the Unix/Linux verion of SMB, and
is completely compatible with Microsoft’s implementation. You can
run Samba from Linux and have every other computer interact with it
as though it were Windows with file sharing enabled.

It includes tools such as the servers, smbd and nmbd, as well as
tools for accessing other computers’ files and printers, such as
