Support and service agreement with Motorola raises
Linuxcare’s profile in embedded systems marketplace.

“Linuxcare, Inc., the premier provider of Linux technical
support and services, just announced an agreement with Motorola to
provide back-line engineering support to Motorola Computer Group’s
support and development organization. Linuxcare’s Technical Support
and Strategic Business Unit (SBU) will work with Motorola’s product
engineering and customer support services on product customization
and application development….”

“In launching what it called its “aggressive Linux strategy”,
Motorola spokespeople pointed to the fact that “the Linux Open
Source community has emerged as a potent force in advanced software
technology development … leading hardware and software suppliers
around the world are supporting or planning to support their
products and solutions in the Linux environment”. Among the
benefits for Motorola’s customers, the company cited time to
market, performance, low cost and the proliferation of “commercial
off-the-shelf application software” (for example, the variety of
OpenGL tools useful in medical imaging applications)….”
