“IBM announces massive Linux investment in Europe — IBM plans
to invest more than $200 million over the next several years, to
create Linux development centers across Europe, develop alliances
with Linux-focused business partners, and deploy about 600
specialized Linux consultants, hardware and software specialists,
and services professionals.”

“Kaffe combo embedded/desktop JVM to be GPL’d — Transvirtual
Technologies announced that the desktop and embedded versions of
the Kaffe Java Virtual Machine (JVM) are being combined into one
version. The new combo JVM will be released as Open Source software
later this year.”
