“I seem to have found myself in an amusing position regarding
open source: It feels at times like I’ve become the local poster
child, or in some cases, whipping boy, for the movement. Mind you,
I’m not complaining, this is one of the most interesting issues in
technology today and one of the most dynamic.

“People approach me regularly on the subject of open source.
Unfortunately, many of them tend to engage in polemics concerning
the relative strengths of their preferred monopolistic software
package versus whatever parallel open-source alternative happens to
be in the press at the moment…”
