Sarted: What is iPodLinux and when did the project
start?

Bernard Leach: The ipodlinux project is about
opening up the iPod platform to a wide audience of enthusiasts that
would love to see the iPods do more that what the Apple software
includes. As a consumer device the iPod has excelled for many
reasons, one of them being that its first and foremost a Mp3
player. That focus has allowed Apple to develop a device that’s so
simple anyone can pick it up and start using it right out of the
box. As enthuiasts though, we’re always looking to make it do
more–can’t play back your FLAC encoded music, can’t enjoy a game
of Tetris on your Nano–ipodlinux is one way of letting those
enthuiasts at the hardware to develop their own
applications…”
