“Matra Datavision has announced a multi-million French franc
contract with the Open CASCADE initiative to provide development
services around its Open Source modeling components.
Open
CASCADE components currently are available in Version 3.0 on Linux,
Sun’s Solaris, IBM/AIX, SGI and Windows NT platforms.”

“Matra Datavision said it will provide 1,500 days of development
support to Samtech, a European services company with an emphasis on
analysis and numerical simulation software, for joint development
of a preprocessor for Samcef Design, Samtech’s finite element
product.”

“Matra is the developer of CASCADE, the technology that forms
the basis of the Open CASCADE Object libraries. The libraries are
C++ libraries designed for rapid reproduction of domain-specific
design applications. Typical Open CASCADE developments include the
use of 2D or 3D geometric modeling in general purpose or computer
aided design (CAD) systems, manufacturing or analysis applications,
simulation applications or illustration tools.”
