“Vicarious Visions has released a downloadable demo of Terminus,
its epic space combat game. Now Linux, Macintosh and Windows users
can simultaneously use it while playing nice and learning to blow
one another into cosmic bits.”

“According to Vicarious Visions, Terminus is the first game
developed simultaneously on Mac, Linux. and Windows. Company
spokesperson Doug Mealy said it also is “the first game with all
three platforms in one box with one SKU and the first space combat
RPG with a persistent universe and a real-time economy….”

“The wait was worth it for Linux users, Bela continued in his
journal entry. “There have been some positive developments as a
result of the delay. Terminus will now have Linux OpenGL support
out of the box! The original plan was to issue this as a patch
since it required us to work with the hardware vendors and the DRI
folks to get it fully implemented. Now, Terminus supports
NVidia cards (TNT, GeForce), Matrox cards (G400), 3Dfx (Voodoo3).
Voodoo 1 and Voodoo 2 users will be able to use Glide. The game is
running very well in high -res modes under OpenGL.
