In what may be the greatest collaboration since peanut
butter met jelly, the creamy goodness of Linux has been spread
across an estimated 4,000 PCs that help search engine Google make
the Internet a better, and far less sticky place.

“Like the sandwich, the union of Linux with Google is not
new.”

“Red Hat Software spokesperson Melissa London said that the
4,000-node cluster used to power Google’s immensely powerful search
engine services started out with Linux. “Google has used Red Hat
Linux for all its Internet computing functions since its inception
in 1998.”
