“Xavier Mormol has been a Linux advocate since 1995, and
implemented the Linux operating system (OS) for the University of
Zulia’s several-hundred-computer academic network when he was the
network administrator there. As founding president of the Venezuela
Linux User Group (VELUG), he lobbied for the inclusion of VELUG’s
achievements at the 1997 Latin American LinuxWeek, said a recent
SuSE release announcing Marmol’s appointment….”

“What ideas do you have for expanding the use of Linux in Latin
America?”

“XM: First, we will strengthen our product presence in Latin
America through both our traditional channels and our new network
of business partners. This will allow us to offer our business
customers a range of integrated solutions for their companies.

We provide professional and comprehensive support, paving the way
for a successful migration to Linux.”

“Secondly, in order to ease this migration to Linux, we offer a
complete training program, including LPI [Linux Professional
Institute] certification. SuSE has no intention to let the
tremendous market opportunity in Latin America pass; we know a
workforce knowledgeable in Linux is the key for to our
success.”

“Finally, we will extend the use of Linux in Latin America, by
offering a gamut of products and services as well as increasing the
general awareness on Linux.”
