In his working class hometown of Grandview, Mo. (a suburb
of Kansas City), Ellis has been using Linux to put together a
network for a neighborhood school and design educational programs
to take over the school’s administrative duties.

“Dominion Christian School is a small school of under 200
students,” Ellis said. “When I began volunteering, the school had
four PCs that were used mainly for word processing, and no network
whatsoever. Over the next year many changes occurred.”

“A donation of 40 486s by a local bank got the ball rolling. “We
worked to piece them together and built a computer lab for the
school. Because of the expense involved with Windows and the slow
computers we had to work with, we found Linux to be a great
alternative.”
