Linuxnewbie.org, a companion site to Linux Today,
received a new design look over the weekend for the purpose of
introducing fresher Linux information and better tools to the users
of the popular community Web site.

Linuxnewbie.org (LNO) features a very active forum where users
of all levels participate in discussions of all things Linux,
particularly how to get certain aspects of the operating system
working. Another feature of the site is the library of Newbieized
Help Files (NHFs). NHFs are task-oriented documents that are
designed to provide simple, straightforward solutions to Linux
issues large and small.

The overall goal of the renovation was to enhance the site’s
environment for the loyal community of LNO regulars who selflessly
offer help to newbies.

The renovation targeted each of these two areas of the site. The
installation of a new online bulletin board system replaced the
older system to improve system response times and give users more
options to communicate. The discussion areas from LinuxPlanet and
the Linux/Open Source Channel of Internet.com were also combined
with the LNO forum to expand its membership roll considerably.

The NHF library is initially being converted to the new indexing
system and will very quickly be updated and expanded to tackle a
much broader variety of topics. With the new system in place,
user-contributed tips and instructions can be posted very
quickly.

Users of all experience levels are invited to visit LNO and
continue its tradition of providing information from the community
for the community.
