good for what ails today’s health care database and network
systems.”

“The Open Source Health Care Alliance (OSHCA) has announced its
formation and described its mission–the creation of “a
collaborative forum to promote and facilitate Open Source software
in human and veterinary health care.”

“At its inaugural meeting June 1, many OSHCA members met
face-to-face for the first time, according to a press release
issued by one of the group’s sponsors, the Minoru Development
Corporation. The creation of a charter reflecting the group’s
interest in promoting “the Open Source model as a solution to many
of the existing problems in health care information systems” was
accomplished by the meeting’s end.”
