“Shane O’Donnell, Open Source Project Manager for OpenNMS of
Cary, NC will present on enterprise management software, Linux in
the enterprise, and the open source movement
at the upcoming
LinuxFest 2000 conference in Overland Park, KS on June 22,
2000.”

“O’Donnell notes, “Following the IPO of Red Hat, RTP has become a
hotbed for open source efforts. Whether Red Hat has proven the
model or not, they’ve certainly legitimized it. These are exciting
times, and I’m thrilled to be in a position to ‘evangelize’ on
behalf of open source.”

“Enterprise management includes the ability for organizations with
large networks to deploy software that is capable of finding and
identifying other devices in the network, and verifying that they
are available, performing at the expected level, and providing the
services required of the device. OpenNMS’ Bluebird Project will
deliver a software solution that meets these basic requirements,
and will provide the source code, or program instructions, at no
cost to anyone interested in reviewing, modifying, or providing
upgrades.”
