LinuxPR: Bynari Announces Earlier Release for InsightConnector for Evolution

Dateline — Dallas – Bynari Inc. CTO, Tom Adelstein has
announced that by early June, his software company will release
their final version of InsightConnector for Evolution. Bynari Inc.
has a working version of their connector running on InsightServer
3.5. The connector provides server side calendaring, shared
folders, tasks, meeting management and a plethora of Outlook
features for Evolution. Working with InsightServer 3.5, Evolution
with Bynari’s connector will talk to all versions of Outlook from
97 through 2002.

“After Jasper Nuyens of Life in Belgium presented a compelling
argument to us on the value of Evolution,” says Adelstein, “I
realized that we could decrease our time to market and speed
adoption of a Linux desktop in the business community.”

Bynari Inc. markets InsightConnector version 1.07 for Microsoft
Outlook with its flagship Linux messaging and collaboration server
running on Linux IBM zSeries, S/390 and xSeries Intel platforms.
Analysts consider InsightServer 3.5 as a “true” Exchange
Replacement because it maintains Outlook objects instead of using
either a third party calendar server or a non-MAPI API.

“As more of the market recognizes that Bynari’s Server is not
just another Internet Mail Only replacement for Exchange,” says
Adelstein, “I think that having Evolution talking to Bynari’s
solution will give Linux the best foot in the door.”

Bynari makes a free Linux and Sparc Solaris messaging and
collaboration client called InsightClient 2.9. Bynari will continue
to support its client offering, but Adelstein says development will
slow down once their connector for Evolution reaches maturity.

“Evolution has a broad range of support not only within the
Linux community but at Sun and other commercial Unix companies,”
says Adelstein. “Someone once told me to ride the horse in the
direction it’s going. So, even though we’ll continue development on
InsightClient, we’ll only aim for some niche markets Evolution may
not cover. Mac OSX needs such a client and we can only guess if
Ximian will build a version for the Mac.”

Pricing and Availability

Bynari Inc. plans to release its beta version of its connector
for Evolution in May. The Company has not set its final release
date for the public. Bynari Inc. will not provide details of its
project on its website.

“We’ve had the effort going for a long time,” says Adelstein.
“We’re still getting legal opinions on licensing issues and
studying the distribution strategy based on those findings. The
market isn’t going anywhere in the next four weeks. I think we have
sufficient time to finish our strategy.”
