LinuxPR: Donovan to Bundle Planet Intra’s Instant Intranet on 18,000 of Its 64-Bit Linux Servers

“Planet Intra today announced that its “instant Intranet”
software for small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs), and
corporate divisions, will be bundled in Donovan’s Penguin64 Lite –
the first 64bit server running the Linux operating system for under
$2,000. Donovan plans to pre-install the software on 18,000 servers
annually, providing customers with a 10-user license and the
ability to add users for a nominal fee. Planet Intra’s powerful
and affordable full-serve Intranet is secure, customizable and
easy-to-use, enabling SMEs to collaborate and communicate across
the world.
Planet Intra can help a company increase
productivity and reduce costs. “Donovan bundles software into our
servers that we believe will add value for our target customers,”
said Gary Foong, managing director of Donovan. “Planet Intra
provides a unique instant Intranet, and like our servers, combines
affordability with powerful, state-of-the-art technology.”
Donovan’s Penguin64 Lite is an affordable server targeted at
Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and small-to-medium-sized
businesses. The server is built using a Sun Ultra AXe motherboard
with integrated 300MHz UltraSPARC-IIi CPU, and is ideal for use as
an Internet or Intranet server to host high-traffic websites,
thousands of mail boxes or a busy database. The addition of Planet
Intra on Donovan’s Penguin64 server brings a groupware application
that is not typical on today’s corporate servers.”

“We are pleased that leading companies around the world, such as
Donovan, are beginning to realize the value of an instant Intranet
solution,” said Michael Peretz, international sales manager, Planet
Intra. “SMEs today need the ability to collaborate globally in a
timely manner, and Planet Intra provides an affordable solution
that was typically only available to larger enterprises.” Unlike
existing e-mail and shared-drive alternatives, Planet Intra is
similar to a workflow tool in that it allows users to organize and
group information in a format that is easily and instantly
accessible by all team members. Planet Intra also provides users
with a calendar, contact manager and highly efficient search engine
that enables users to scan their Intranet knowledge base and
retrieve valuable information. The Planet Intra software package
runs on the NT and Unix – including Linux and Solaris – operating
systems and is available through the company’s Web site.
Additionally, Planet Intra recently made its Intranet software
available in 16 languages, including Japanese, Chinese, English,
French, German, Spanish and Italian….”
