dotcomma has begun programming challenges, which encourage
participants to use their programming skills to create entries to
various programming contests.

“dotcomma’s challenges were created to give programmers a chance
show off their talents and hone their programming skills.
Challenges ask users to perform a task, and the winners are chosen
based on the quality of the entry; factors such as size and
efficiency, creativity, and overall quality of the entry are used
to determine the winners. Credits are given to winners, which can
later be “cashed in” for prizes.”

“Entries must be open sourced, and can be created for any
platform. By requiring open source of programs, we hope that
readers may use the source code for reference later on, to help
them improve their programming skills and, if they attempted the
challenge, determine what could have been done better and more
efficiently. Judges will not analyze the source code when judging,
but the sources of the winning entries will be available for
download after the contest is completed.”
