Stuttgart. For four days starting on 29 June, the Stuttgart
Exhibition and Convention Centre will be a European Mecca for the
Linux Community and everyone interested in Free Software.

“Under the patronage of the Minister for Trade and Industry, Dr.
Werner Müller, LinuxTag 2000 opens with exhibitions by the
leading companies in the Free Software field, and with a program of
over 60 lectures and two panel discussions with representatives of
business, government and software development, all free of charge.
An admission fee is charged only for the Business Congress section
– a first at this year’s LinuxTag – which brings together IT
experts and decision makers in business and public administration.
The fourth pillar of LinuxTag 2000 is the JobForum, designed to
help employers and young IT specialists find one another in a
professional setting. The organisers are expecting up to 20,000
visitors.”

“The four-day event on the revolutionary IT concept of open
source software goes beyond offering the general public a deeper
understanding of operating systems such as Linux and its
applications for home, educational and business use. A major
informational objective of the event is to highlight the benefits
of open source software and Linux in business and administration,
as a new foundation for more powerful, more cost-effective IT
infrastructures.”
