Lexmark International, Inc. today announced the first-ever
Linux driver developed by a manufacturer for color inkjet printers.
Linux users can now integrate color inkjet printing seamlessly into
their computing system for simple and convenient support of
consumer and SOHO based printing needs.
The Lexmark offering
will be available for the award-winning Lexmark Z52 Color
Jetprinter and Lexmark Z32 Color Jetprinter.”

“Addressing the needs of the rapidly growing Linux community,
the new Lexmark driver easily integrates into the Linux-based PC
set-up for general purpose printing functions. The driver currently
supports the following major Linux distributions: Red Hat, SuSE,
and Mandrake, covering almost 70 percent of the Linux market

“Lexmark is committed to making its advanced inkjet technology
accessible to all types of users. This year alone, we created our
first line of Mac compatible inkjets as well as offered a WebTV
compatible driver. This Linux announcement is one more example of
how we continue to expand our compatibility to meet the growing
needs of our consumers,” said Bernard Masson, president of
Lexmark’s Consumer Printer Division.”
