LinuxPR: Linux Show of Force – Call to All Florida Based LUGs

If you’re seeing this, you can help the spread the word on
Linux to those still trapped in a Microsoft only world! The event
is in Tampa on September 27th and 28th. This is an open invitation
to ALL who are interested to come and help.

“The Suncoast Linux Users Group (SLUG) has been invited to give
a presentation at the upcomming Computers and Techology Showcase on
Sept. 27th and 28th in the Tampa Bay Convention Center in Tampa,
Fl. WE ARE EXTENDING THE INVITATION TO ALL FLORIDA BASED LUGs TO
ATTEND THIS SHOW. Our mission is to, by show of numbers, preset to
the attending members of the business community that Linux offers a
viable (and often superior) alternative for their business
computing needs, offering complete, secure, reliable, inexpensive,
and wide ranging business solutions both in the work place and in
the home.”

“We have been provided, free of charge, a 10×10 booth on the
main show floor and an auditorium (adjecent to the Microsoft
auditoriums) in which to give presentations. We have contacted
various Linux vendors and manufacturers (Corel, Caldera, Red Hat,
SuSE, Mandrakesoft, Kondra, Slackware, Stormix, TurboLinux, Yellow
Dog, and Linux Mall), however, any involved in Open Source
(prefferably Linux or BSD) developement and usage are also invited
(this includes but is not limited to Net, Open, and FreeBSD as well
as any Linux distro user or maker). We already have a confirmed
speaker coming in from TurboLinux, Mr. William Peterson (bio at the
bottom of the letter) and have invited members of other
distributions to come and speak as well. Speakers that have been
invited (but are not deffinite) include Jon Bolzern from Linux Mall
and Jon “Maddog” Hall from Linux International. Furthermore, we
have contacted various news sources in the community about the
event, including Linux Magazine, Linux Journal, Linux Today, Open,
Maximum Linux and local news sources. Finally, many prizes and
freebies are to be given (the response for many companies has been
to send free stuff to pass out to those interested at the
show).”
