LinuxPR: Linux Users Group awards the best of Linux contributions

“Linux Users Group (Singapore) once again recognizes the efforts
of various organisations by awarding the LUGS Awards.”

“The prestigeous LUGS (Linux Users Group, Singapore) Awards 2001
were given out at the Awards ceremony held at Whiskey Still last
night as part of the Singapore Linux Conference 2001. Judged by a
panel of independent judges comprising of leaders from the various
business, academic, and civic organizations, this year’s Awards
recognize the companies that had excelled in providing quality
products and innovative solutions through the use of the Linux
operating system.”

“Many nominations were received for this year’s Awards, thus
reflecting the rapid growth in the deployment of Linux. As these
highly-coveted LUGS awards are to mark excellence, they are only be
given when justified by the quality of the nominations. Therefore,
if no truly outstanding entries are received in a particular
category, no award shall be given. Out of the proposed 9
categories, a total of 7 Awards were given out to deserving
organisations, and the winners are as follows:…”
