Moonlight Systems Inc., a next-generation software company
formed in January 2000, today unveiled plans to deliver
enterprise-grade applications optimized for Linux server
deployments and the fast growing Application Service Provider (ASP)
market. Moonlight Systems will employ an open source strategy in
developing and delivering its products, by providing source code to
customers and partners to maximize flexibility and to foster
ongoing innovation.

“The company was founded by successful entrepreneur Bobby
Mukherjee, who founded Private One, the secure email company that
was sold to NBC Internet (NBCi) in August 1999. Moonlight is backed
by BankAmerica Venture Partners (Bank of America’s venture arm);
Angel Investors L.P. (Ron Conway); Naren Gupta, vice chairman of
Wind River Systems and founder of Integrated Systems; Tyler Peppel,
former CEO of MightyMail; Stanford University; UCLA; the
prestigious law firm of Wilson, Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati; and
others.”

“The market for Linux servers is large and growing, especially
in the rapidly growing ASP space, and there is an emerging need for
enterprise-grade applications optimized to run on these servers,”
said Mukherjee, Moonlight Systems founder and CEO.”
